Fun Activities For Pregnant Women
Here are some great activities for expecting moms to do alone, as well as some fun things to do while pregnant with friends:
1. Shopping Trip
A shopping spree is right up there among the best (and most fun) things to do while pregnant.
You can either shop for your baby, and start buying everything from onesies, pyjamas, sleep sacks and blankets, or start building your postpartum wardrobe so that you’re all set when you leave hospital.
2. Pampering Session
There’s no better time to pamper yourself than while pregnant, so what better time than the present to get your hair done, enjoy some spa time or get a relaxing foot massage.
Pamper sessions are also a really fun thing to do while pregnant with friends, so why not ask a few of your best friends to join you too.
3. Prenatal Massage
Treat yourself to a prenatal massage, especially as experts advise prenatal massages can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and even improve labor outcomes.
4. Yoga
I’m a qualified yoga teach and love all things yoga, so I may be a little biased.
However I strongly believe that prenatal yoga is not only a great way to relax and have fun, particularly as experts believe it can also improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety and even strengthen the muscles needed for childbirth.
5. Swimming
Swimming is a lot of fun and a great way to cool down if you’re naturally feeling a little hot while pregnant.
If your pregnancy is in the warmer months like mine was, then you might also love the idea of doing a few laps in a pool as a way to cool off.
But best of all, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, swimming is one of the safest forms of exercise during pregnancy and can reduce back pain.
Swimming in the sea is safe during pregnancy, as is snorkelling, but just make sure you don’t schedule in any scuba diving, as this activity is not deemed safe for pregnant women.
6. Painting Class
A very easy and fun pregnancy activity at home is to indulge in a little painting.
Even if you think you have no artistic talent, painting can still be a lot of fun, and if you let yourself go and enjoy the moment, you may even surprise yourself at what you’ve created.
While oil paints are not recommended, acrylics and watercolors are safe for pregnant women.
7. Take Out
Why not give in to those pregnancy cravings and sample all those amazing restaurants you’ve been meaning to try but haven’t got round to yet.
8. Mocktail Party
While alcohol and cocktails are off the menu, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the odd mocktail or non-alcoholic drink.
You can every throw a mocktail party, which is a really fun thing to do with your friends while you are pregnant.
9. Girl’s Trip
For those of you who are feeling a little adventurous and have the budget, why not plan a trip with your best friends?
A spa trip can be a great all-round option, because even your friends that aren’t pregnant will love the idea of getting facials and massages.
10. Start A Baby Registry
If you are planning on having a baby shower then there’s a good chance you’re going to need a baby registry.
Start thinking about not only those things you want to add to your baby registry, but also those items you may want to avoid adding to your registry too.
